Emma Tunley

Personal Trainer, Holistic Nutritionist, and Registered Yoga Teacher

I have always loved to be strong – it inspires feelings of freedom and independence. After the birth of my son in 2006, I decided to become a part-time Personal Trainer as it allowed me the freedom to balance motherhood with a career I loved. This quickly became a full-time passion. I believe in continuing education in my journey, and since then I have graduated as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, become a Pre & Postnatal specialist through Fit4Two, and completed the 200 hour teacher training with Power Yoga Canada. My latest adventure took me to Lake Ontario to learn the Stand Up Paddle Yoga Teacher Training through ‘SUP Dog.

I love inspiring others to love their bodies and improve their quality of life!

In my spare time I run, hike, ride my bike, and spend time with my most incredible family. I can often be found playing in my garden and spending time with friends and loved ones. Life is short. I believe it’s important to work hard, play hard, love hard and dream big.

Alison Tunley

Registered Massage Therapist

I was inspired to study Massage Therapy after rehabilitating a shoulder injury in my late teenage years. Graduating from Sutherland-Chan with my Massage Therapy Diploma in 2004 was only the beginning of my journey to become a healer. I have since expanded my studies to include perinatal care, Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, and Structural Alignment. My journey is far from over as I am continually researching new developments in healing and taking courses to expand my knowledge base. In my spare time you’ll find me exploring city streets or forest paths with my children, on my bike or camping, or enjoying the arts throughout Toronto’s vibrant communities.

Linda Utting

Registered Massage Therapist

I believe everything that has happened in my life has prepared me for my career as a Registered Massage Therapist.

I have always tried to help people feel better, and this continues to be my foremost goal. In my current role as Massage Therapist at MiBody Health and Fitness, I use my knowledge, skills and intuition to achieve positive results for my clients.

My techniques include Swedish and Relaxation Massage, Sports Injury Massage, Deep Tissue and Craniosacral Therapy. A strong personal background rooted in balance, creativity and sport allows me to take a varied approach to treatment and client care; always with that foremost goal: To help people feel better.

My philosophy involves a “whole body” approach and, once problems are solved and balance is achieved, a regular schedule of massage therapy can be used to maintain proper muscle function.

This awareness is the key to better health and well-being:

“Our bodies communicate to us clearly and specifically, if we are willing to listen.” — Shakti Gawain

It is my belief that health, wellness and fitness are all branches of our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being and that balance amongst them, isn’t necessarily achieved everyday but over a period of time.

Laura Bordis

Laura Bordis

Osteopathic Manual Practitioner

Osteopathy came to me when I met a fellow osteopath therapist while I was still studying one of my first passions, Organisms and Ecosystems Biology. I have always had a passion for nature. Its power of creation and evolution and the bridge between my scientific background and osteopathy was obvious for me.

During the 6 years of education at the Toulouse Institute of Osteopathy in France, I have enriched my knowledge and developed my palpation and my practice. After my graduation, I completed my training with many post-graduated seminars.

My work is based on a wide array of specific tests and techniques (Craniosacral , Cranial, Myofascial, Musculoskeletal/Postural assessment, Visceral, Fluid system, Intraosseous), allowing me to have a precise diagnostic process and a treatment that fit the needs and respect the limits of my patients.

Maryna Ilyashenko

Iyengar Yoga Instructor

My yoga journey began many years ago, when I was a student in the Academy of Art (Kiev, Ukraine), exploring the yoga philosophy and eastern traditions. Since then, I’ve experienced several different styles of yoga, but the depth of Iyengar Hatha Yoga traditions led me to pursue this method.  I continue to be inspired by B.K.S. Iyengar’s unique investigation of alignment, and it’s therapeutic effect, not only on the physical body but also on the flow of energy and consciousness in the mind.  I received my certification at Yoga Centre Toronto, and my goal is to promote healing, well being, and balance through the practice of Iyengar Yoga.

Kazimira Mattes

Hatha Yoga Teacher

I am a Hatha yoga instructor and busy mother of two school aged children with an excited passion to help people live and age with strength, mobility and grace. My classes focus on bringing balance to the body through a connection to breath, attention to alignment, and an engagement in cultivating a mind body connection. My aim is to increase strength and mobility in my students and to help balance out the strains of modern living, both on the physical and mental body. I completed my 300 hour advanced teacher training certificate at Octopus Garden Holistic Yoga Center. I continue to study regularly as I keep exploring the joys of movement and further fuel my deep curiosity in the powers of the mental and emotional self. I teach active, gentle and restorative yoga classes with the aim to help people feel and live full, and healthy lives.

Jordana Blumberger

Personal Trainer

It may surprise you to know that I wasn’t always healthy and active.  I was introduced to fitness by a friend who was too intimidated to join a gym alone, so we signed up together and started showing up a few times a week. Looking back, we had no idea what we were doing, but it was the act of building a new habit that was most important and propelled me to find my lifelong passion.

Close to twelve years later, I have not only transformed my personal mind, body and spirit with fitness, but I have built an incredibly rewarding career. I am a Can Fit Pro certified Personal Trainer, and I have worked with over 150+ clients with goals varying from weight loss, muscle/strength gain, and injury rehabilitation. I have also worked with 75+ personal trainers to help them launch their careers. In 2012, I returned to school at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition to be able to effectively coach my clients in all areas.

Lisa Jansen

Yoga Teacher – Viniyoaga, Ashtanga

At an early age, I was taught Hatha Yoga asanas (poses) by my mother. I used these skills to become an accomplished gymnast, eventually teaching gymnastics at McMaster University when I was just a teenager! A successful corporate career of over 15 years and two kids later, I realized that I desired a more soulful employment. I completed a number of yoga certifications (Viniyoga, Ashtanga Yoga) to become a proud ambassador of iconic Canadian brand Lululemon as one of the top Yoga and Meditation experts in Toronto since 2002, working with small businesses to large corporations, yoga studios and private clients. My reputation in the industry has allowed me to develop an outstanding network of prominent celebrity clients such as Natalie Portman, Vin Diesel, Diane Lane, Gael Garcia, James Black (Finger Eleven) and professional athletes.

Gerardo Reyes Casarrubias

Registered Massage Therapist

As an avid long-distance runner and member of the Longboat Roadrunners Club, I have always been interested in finding ways to combat muscle stiffness and injuries.  This quest for self-knowledge and healing inspired me to complete the Massage Therapy Program at Sutherland-Chan.

Working with a variety of clients, I have experience treating a wide range of conditions. I am passionate about working with clients to find tailored solutions that help improve their health.

My running experience combined with my theoretical knowledge allows me to help people bounce back from — and avoid — injuries.  I am also dedicated to working with clients who are seeking massage to relieve stress and muscle tension.

My tools and techniques include Gait Analysis, Myofascial Release, Cupping, Kinesiology Taping, Sports Massage, Swedish Massage, Relaxation Massage and Deep Tissue Massage.

The passion to challenge myself helps me to keep improving as a massage therapist and achieve other goals, like running the Boston Marathon — one of my bucket list achievements. When not treating people or running marathons, you may find me getting outdoors with my family and dog.
